What microneedling involves
Microneedling uses a device with small needles to create controlled punctures in the skin. Certain devices are authorized for specific uses, including some facial wrinkles and acne scars. The device, treatment area and your skin history affect whether it is appropriate.
A skin assessment comes first
Talk with Tara about the concern you want to address, current skin conditions, medications and prior treatments. Ask which device would be used, its intended use and whether an alternative may better fit your needs.
Plan around recovery
Ask about treatment preparation, expected redness and aftercare, including sun protection. Your schedule should allow for recovery. Discuss the number and spacing of sessions rather than assuming that one treatment will address every concern.
Questions worth asking
Potential complications include infection, scarring and pigment changes. Ask how your skin type and history affect risk. Standard microneedling and radiofrequency microneedling are different procedures; clarify exactly what treatment is being offered.
Microneedling questions
Can microneedling help acne scars?
Certain devices are authorized for treating facial acne scars. An assessment is needed to determine whether the procedure fits your skin and the type of scarring.
Will I need more than one session?
Possibly. Discuss a proposed plan and realistic expectations with Tara before starting.
What do I need to disclose?
Share your medications, skin conditions, history of scarring or pigment changes and any recent procedures.
